Know how to Pull a Water Skier

If you're in charge of driving the boat, you should know how to pull a water skier. You want to start the engine only after the skier is in the water and away from the propeller. Then, move slowly away from the skier to tighten the tow rope properly.

Once the skier has signaled you, it's time to start pulling them. Accelerate slowly and increase the speed smoothly.

It's best to cruise at about 20 miles per hour with beginners. You also want to make sure you make turns in a bit of a circular motion. It's important to avoid making sharp turns and if the skier falls, you want to circle back as quickly as you can.

Relax

As you begin to ski, especially if it has been a while or it's your first time, you want to relax. When you're tense on the water, it can put you in the wrong position and make it hard to stay in control.

Understand that the skis will float and you just need to relax into your life jacket. Keep your knee tucked into your chest and enjoy the ride.

Let the Boat do The Work

As you're skiing, don't forget to let the boat do the work. Many water skiers try to outmuscle the boat, which will only make you tired and it could lead to you falling.

Instead, keep your arms straight as you cut through wakes and let the very powerful boat do all the work for you. This will lead to a fun water skiing trip as you'll be able to enjoy your time on the water easier.

Remain Alert & Aware

While you might get tired towards the end of the day out on the water, you want to remain alert and aware. Keeping your eyes up while you ski is important and remaining aware of your surroundings as you drive the boat will keep everybody safe.

Stay alert as there are plenty of dangers you could run into while skiing or driving the boat. You want to stay alert and aware of your surroundings and make sure you're following proper safety protocol at all times.
