I'm not a Summer person, but I am a Die-hard!

Ran into an ol’ friend at Wally's World yesterday. We dropped our “'stifling nose itchers” and chatted for a while next to the Deli Counter.

During the open-air conversation, I mentioned to him that I was 'over' Summer the week of July 4th.

He laughed and said, 'I'm the exact opposite, guess it's because I'm an old guy. I love the heat and the Summer fishing.''

Now I've been at this Inshore/Coastal waters Charter Fishing in Jax for a little while now. 24 years to be exact, and I can’t go along with my friend at the Deli - I can't wait until Summer 2020 is OVER!

And you may think that I am a complete oddball compared to:

  1. Most people I know (Jax residents)

  2. Tourists

  3. Family Vacationers

But I am not a summer person! So, this is a short narrative about:

''WHEN YOU PROBABLY WON'T GO FISHING!''

Would you rather catch this?  [Summer's, bait-stealing machine]

Or this?  [Trophy Speckled Trout]

This?  [An April delicacy, Pompano]

Or this?  [Dinky Jack Crevalles]

My point is, River, ICW & Jetties fishing isn't all it can be, during the heat of Summer.

The transitional times of the year, October and April in N.E. Florida, are the most awesome times of the year. With ''NO LONG BOAT RIDES'' required. And cooler water means better fishing, for the fish we all want.

And don’t forget…  the ''way too short'' deep WINTER months of January through March with the much colder temps and much higher winds, can also be OUTSTANDING fishing.

''Sweatin' to the oldies'' on the boat stereo by 8:00 am gets old very quickly for me.

I relish wearing my favorite Ugly Stik hooded sweatshirt, dug out of a box from the spare closet. Because I started dreaming about this time of year on July 4th!

I don't mind the cold North wind, keeping the ''fair weathers'' on land versus my favorite river fishing spots.

If you're like me. You may want to give me a call. I'll show you what I do when it's NOT Summer in Jax.

I'll leave you with these video highlights of what we do between November and April.
