How to get a fishing license in Florida?

If you’re an avid or even casual fisher, Florida is the spot for you. South Florida is especially renowned for world class fishing options for both saltwater and freshwater enthusiasts, though you’ll find plenty in the northern Florida region as well.

Before you cast your line, however, you’ll need to be sure to obtain a fishing license, unless you fall into a few exempted groups (such as children under 16, residents over the age of 65, and military personnel).

If your trip or move lines up with April, you may want to take advantage of the first weekend, when the requirement to have a license is relaxed for the beginning of the season.

The simplest way to get your license is to head online and apply from home, albeit with a modest convenience surcharge. You’ll find a variety of options for residents and visitors alike.

Don’t risk getting hit with a fine for a procedure that is affordable and relatively painless; get registered and then get out on the water!
