The easiest fishing there is in Jacksonville, right now!

Be it. the St. Johns River, the ICW, the tidal marsh creeks. The Mayport Jetties, or even 10 miles offshore.

Fishing a lead jig-head and a live Shrimp or even a fresh dead shrimp, couldn't be any easier this time of year for a vast number of species.

October turned out to be a fantastic month of fishing. The water temps should continue to fall throughout the month of November. In doing so, many of the game fish such as redfish, trout and flounder will be transitioning to a fall pattern and start to school up.

Hopefully this month will bring some cooler weather and water. With the water temps holding in the high 80’s the bite is still a bit lethargic. Redfish, Trout and Flounder are still on the hit list, but the need to scramble has been the ticket for putting good numbers in the boat.

As this phenomenon takes place, the migration of several other species will follow. Tarpon, Bull Reds and Flounder will all be in tow looking for easy meals on massive schools of mullet.

For the record…

I think a 6 day season is an absolute slap in our faces given the current numbers of red snapper off our coast. Last year they approved 9 days, with a 3 day extension because of bad weather.

As the year continues to wind down, August is migration month. The Tarpon, Sharks, Kings, Flounder and several other species all start to migrate slowly towards Northeast Florida. And the bait is thick on the beach this time of year. That too, brings a multitude of hungry predators along with it and some very exciting fishing opportunities. Tarpon, Kings, Bonita, Jacks can all be targeted around the Pogie pods off the beach.
